Unique Applications for Translucent Slabs

15 Oct, 2019 | Quartz, Quartzite |

Translucent stone slabs, such as quartzite, are undoubtedly stunning, so it is not surprising that people are attracted to them and want to know all about them. When someone chooses to utilize quartzite or another translucent stone slab, they do so with the intention to create a WOW factor and that means doing something unique with the installation of the pieces they purchase. Here are a few options they may consider assuring their translucent slabs really make an impact…

Countertops

In general, you might feel there isn’t anything particularly special about countertops. However, if you imagine the beauty of translucent quartzite countertops matched with the magic of underlighting you’ve got something truly special. To begin with, Quartzite is a pretty incredible material for a number of reasons. It is extremely durable, stain-proof, heat and fire resistant, and its colors will remain as beautiful as the day they were installed. Now add to that quartzite’s ability to come to life and glow with the perfect amount of back and/or underlighting and PRESTO!

Design Centerpieces and Artwork

Translucent slabs are also ideal for creating unique design centerpieces either at home or in places of business. They are fairly easy to form into all manner of statues and monuments, and their translucent nature means that they look positively majestic when light is emanating from within.

Bar Tops

Using translucent stone slabs, like quartzite, for bar tops creates an environment that is warm, welcoming, elegant and a little regal. The strength and stain resistant nature of quartzite makes it able to withstand a lot of carelessness and use while remaining unscathed. If you are looking to create a statement, we absolutely recommend looking into underlighting and/or backlighting your bar top.

Wall Panels

Why bother with standard wall treatments like drywall that has been painted over or plastered with wallpaper, when you can adorn your walls in beautiful translucent slabs. The result will look far more expensive and decadent and will appear to shimmer, shine and glow. Translucent slabs also work perfectly in kitchens and bathrooms when standard tiles and treatments feel too subtle. This is not only because they create a bold impact, but also because they are long-lasting and easy to clean.

Why Translucent Slabs?

The uses for translucent stones extend beyond those listed above. Some have also been formed into basins, lighting fixtures, tables, and more. When you find yourself looking for the perfect material to create an extraordinary space, consider translucent slabs as a wonderful option. They offer durability with the added benefit of being cosmetically appealing and truly unique.
