Check Out These Kitchen Countertop Trends of 2020

17 Jan, 2020 | Quartz, Granite |

There is no time like the present for remodeling your kitchen. It's one of the best ways to increase your home's value, as well as your own joy in the kitchen! If you're looking to make some upgrades, then here are some hot remodeling trends of 2020 to consider while planning your kitchen makeover.

Quartz is Queen

Granite has always been a great counter surface in kitchen redesigns, but Quartz is beginning to experience a reign of its own. What's with the influx of this delightfully versatile material? Granite is a natural rock. The designs are up to the natural phenomena of the earth's layering wherever it is mined. However, Quartz is man-made, so the possibilities for color, design, and finish are far more diverse—and don't have as strong an impact on the cost! It's also highly dense, so it doesn't hide pesky bacteria that breed and spread. Quartz stays cleaner, and that's great for your health and your kitchen cleaning habits. No wonder quartz is taking over this year's remodeling trends.

Honed or Polished Finish

The finish of a surfacing material can impact the kind of statement it makes in a room. 2020 is a year for contrast. Having everything shine or having it all muted—neither is going to produce your kitchen's best look. If your counters are polished wood, a honed finish on your new countertops would be best. Honed finish has no shine, like matte, and it is good at hiding scratches and marks. A polished finish would be ideal when contrasting with cabinets that have been color-treated but not gloss stained. This will have the effect of enhancing the surfacing material so that it pops like a proper statement piece in your kitchen.

Neutrality

Great style endures the test of time. It's true of your wardrobe, and it's true of your kitchen surfacing. Choosing to incorporate neutral colors on the spectrum of white, off-white, and greys could be the safest styling bet in 2020. These colors go well with a wide range of accessories and surfaces, and they will be more muted than overpowering, so that you can allow for smaller accents to be your eye-catchers in the kitchen. For instance, add a flirty red mixer or a classic blue (Pantone's Color of the Year) coffee maker to pop on your counter space. 2020 is all about keeping surfaces neutral so accents pop.

Backsplash It

Surfacing such as porcelain doesn't have to only be used for countertops. Enhance the elegance and modern feeling to your kitchen with a choice backsplash! The contrasting yet connected colors and textures will give your kitchen a fresh dimension, and it will create a photogenic kitchen that's always ready for your next social gathering.
