Choosing the Right Kitchen Sink and Faucet for Your Kitchen

23 Aug, 2018 |

In every home, the kitchen is the most utilized room. However, no kitchen is complete without a sink for cleaning and cooking. Choosing just the right look can become a beautiful yet functional focal point in the room. This blog will guide you on how to choose the best sink and faucet for your kitchen and your lifestyle.

The Sink Material

The kitchen sink experiences regular use and exposure to water meaning it is likely to be worn fast. As such, you’ll want to choose the best material for more extended service. Sinks made of stainless steel tend to last longer and hold up properly when compared to sinks made of enamel.

Although sinks made using stainless steel are believed to be noisy in the kitchen, they hardly show scratches and are easy to clean. Those made of enamel are prone to chip and that doesn’t often go unnoticed. Therefore, select a sink that will offer excellent functionality and last for a long time.

The Number of Sinks

As a homeowner, you can either choose a double bowl sink or go for a single one. However, the number of sinks that will be installed in the kitchen will depend on the amount of the available space. Moreover, if you have large pots and pans that need regular washing, it’s advisable that you install one bigger sink.

Choosing the Faucet

Once you’ve established the type of sink that you need, it’s time to find an appropriate faucet. As much as the design might be an issue, you have to aim for durability and functionality. Select taps that are made using solid brass or ceramic disk for durability.

Additionally, the way the faucet has been finished is essential in ensuring easy cleaning process. Get those that have been completed using chrome. Also, for easier rinsing of large dishes, choose a faucet with a single lever and a pull-out sprayer.
