Organizing your Pots and Pans

Finding room for all your pots and pans can be a challenge. Even if you have plenty of space, it doesn’t always translate to easy accessibility. Here are a few creative ways that will help you organize those bulky kitchen utensils.

Pot Racks

A hanging pot rack works well if you don’t have much room available in your cabinets. However, your kitchen needs to have tall ceilings. A wall rack differs from a hanging rack and works better in small kitchens with generous wall space.

Wall Racks

You can buy wall racks or even use a pegboard and hooks. These storage solution works especially well if you have high-quality cookware because it can double as décor.

Pull Out Shelves

If you only have cabinets available for storage that are close to the floor, consider installing pull-out shelves. That way you can still reach all the pots and pans that normally gets lost way in the back. Of course pull-out shelves can make your life easier for any kitchen items and any cupboard, regardless of location. However, if you want to keep expenses down, using them on bottom shelves first is the way to go.

Turntable

If you have a cupboard with a turntable, consider storing your pots and pans in it, or add a turntable to a suitable cabinet. To avoid overloading the space, place a circular pot protector (a round mat that is normally used to protect surfaces from hot pots) on the shelf to mark where each pan goes when not in use.

Lid Storage

When organizing pots and pans, the lids often create one of the biggest problems. Storing them separately provides a good solution. You could opt for an over-the-door lid organizer, install a roll-out lid organizer inside a cabinet or purchase a lid rack for your shelf. In a pinch, you can even store lids in a separate container such as a plastic dishpan.

With so many solutions available, make sure you only purchase what would work for your kitchen. If you have trouble narrowing down choices, looking at pictures online of comparable cupboards online or consult a friend who has a similar kitchen layout.
